1. Purpose
This notice explains how Bodkas handles learner profiles and learning progress information when an account owner uses a Family plan. The Family plan allows one account owner to manage up to 3 learner profiles. A learner profile is not a separate billing account.
2. Minimised learner profile
Bodkas is designed to minimize information about learners. A learner profile contains only what is needed to provide the learning experience:
- Learner profile ID (internal)
- Display name or nickname (chosen by the account owner)
- Optional avatar reference
- Product access state
- Learning progress
- Technical information required for security and service operation
Bodkas does not require a learner profile to have: a personal email address, a personal phone number, a home address, a school name, precise location, a real photograph, or a separate Google account.
3. Parent / family account owner
The Family account owner controls the Family account and learner profiles. The owner may:
- Create or remove learner profiles
- Choose learner display names and nicknames
- Access the Family dashboard and progress summaries
- Manage the Family subscription
- Manage weekly progress email preferences
- Request account or data deletion
4. Family dashboard
The Family dashboard shows useful learning information, not raw technical logs. It may include:
- Learner progress summaries (words learned, sessions, streaks)
- Language and level information
- Learning activity highlights
The Family dashboard is not designed to expose granular behavioural tracking or build a commercial profile of learners.
5. Weekly family progress email
Bodkas may send a weekly progress summary to the Family account owner. This email covers all learner profiles in the Family. The account owner may update email preferences at any time. Bodkas will not send individual learner progress emails to learners who do not have a verified email address.
6. Learner data protection principle
Learning progress must not be converted into a behavioral advertising profile. Bodkas will not:
- Use learner progress for cross-site advertising
- Share individual learner data with advertisers
- Build behavioral profiles of learners for commercial third parties
- Use IP addresses as a learner identity mechanism
7. Data rights for family accounts
The account owner may request:
- A copy of the Family account data
- Deletion of the Family account and all associated learner profiles
- Correction of inaccurate data
